UPDATE: July 12, 2016 – A visitor to this blog shared additional information about the Wellman family.  There are two additional children I did not know about. There is a transcript to the Wellman bible with additional information that has errors. There is additional information about this family, I will only add some of it to the information below.  If interested leave a comment.  This will change the order of the children

  1.  Philip Brown Wellman, died young.  (NEW)

2.  Zora Wellman born about 1875 in Ontario. She married a Gilbert McMullen on 25 October 1889 in Hastings.  This means that Zora died before 1911 per the above census.

Zora Z. Wellman, age 25, born about 1874 in Rawdon, married on 25, Oct. 1899 in Hastings. Father Barton Wellman, mother Alice Brown. Spouse Gilbert McMullen, age 38, born about 1861 in Rawdon. Father Andrew McMullen and mother Catherine Wescott.  Source Ontario Canada Marriages 1801 to 1928

Update:  July 12, 2016 – Zora was in the Rockwell Hospital in Kingston, Ontario in the 1911 census and eventually recovered. In the 1911 Canadian census her children are living with her parents and brother in Rawdon Twp.  Her final fate is still unknown.

3.  Edward Barton Wellman born about 1876/8 and died 14 December, 1912 in Rawdon, Hastings Co., Ontario. He married a Katie Myrtle Eleanor Gifford on 26 June, 1912 in Hastings Co.  She was the daughter of Samuel Sterling Gifford and Precella Lidster.  Source was Ontario, Canada, Marriages 1801-1928

Update: July 12, 2016 – Sadly Edward/Edmond tried to shoot his wife Katie and then shot himself.  Katie survived and remarried to a Myron Seymore.

4. Margaret Wellman born 1880. She may have married on 12 August 1884 but no name of spouse was given for it was only and index.  There are many references to a Margaret in the census for 1911 but not knowing her married name will take a bit of work to figure out what happened to her. Update: July 12, 2016 the name of her husband is Carl Wheeler Nixon.

5. Ethel Alvina Wellman – died young. (NEW)

6.  David Wellman about 1887.  The David listed in the 1911 Canadian census above might be a son of Barton and Alice Wellman appearing next door to them.  Update: July 12, 2016 – David married Jennie Gifford, sister to Katie see #3.

Once again, more research needs to be done on this family and the children.  A thorough census study, marriage, and burial records needs to be done to piece it all together.  It is time to move on to other family members.

Thanks to the visitor for sharing these updates.

Margaret and William John Mumby migrated to Brandon, Manitoba.  They are on Find A Grave buried in the Brandon Municipal Cemetery.  They may have had three children: Ambrose, Ina and Clarence.

2.  Alice Matilda Clements was born about 1870 in Ontario and she married a Thomas Wellington Russell of Rawdon Twp. on 4 February 1891 in Hastings Co., Ontario.

There is a T. W. Russell born March 30, 1867 age 34 and an A.M. Russell his wife born January 11, 1869 age 32 living in Rawdon, Hastings Co., Ontario in the 1901 census. They have two children: Irene born Aug, 8, 1892 and John born June 11, 1895.

In 1911 Thomas and Matilda are now living in Northumberland East, in Seymour Twp. with two children Irene age 19, August 1892, and John age 16 June 1895.

A John and Mary Russell are below them on the 1911 Census. They are 49 years old and maybe be a brother to Thomas.

There is of course more research to be done on this family such as a thorough census search, and finding burial locations, but I think this is a good start for James and Francis (Brown) Clements and their family.
